PITS army packs 2012

We hope you enjoy playing PITS and like the figures we have made for you.
Each army pack provides enough figures and casualties for a PITS force.  In addition the necessary bases are included.

Sometimes there may be a few extra figures. These can be put in with other figures, thus making some bases up to 4 figures rather than the usual three. In the same way there may be a shortage of an odd figure here and there, no problem just use excess figures from elsewhere in the army pack.

It is intended that all standard bases mount 3 figures.  Leader and sergeant bases mount 2 figures. Scouts should be populated at a rate of 1 or 2 per base.

Bases (stands)

Infantry use the square 3x3 cm bases.
Cavalry use the 3 x 4 cm bases, with the 3cm being the frontage.
Artillery and MGs use the 4x4 cm bases. The guns and MGs are permanently attached to the base as the crew and piece count as one.
Wounded figures should be based singly on small coins so that they can be superimposed on bases which are wounded.
Dead bases should be the same size as live bases because they replace a live base when it is killed.

Force 1(B2201) “Steady lads, steady”. British infantry.

A force of 3 British sections accompanied by 4 scouts.  These men are tough and reliable. The force has plenty of scouts so that it can control the mission terrain. British infantry have excellent fire-power. A small but capable force. The infantry can be in khaki or red tunics.

Unit 1.  6 bases of infantry, 1 sergeants base, 1 officer base .  Average quality (86 points).
Unit 2.  6 bases of infantry, 1 sergeants base, 1 officer base .  Average quality (86 points).

Force 2 (B2202)  “Into the desert again” Egyptian infantry.

A force of 4 sections accompanied by an artillery unit and scouts. This is a very big force but the poor infantry can be a liability.  The artillery gives this force the ability to project its might some distance.  It would be wise not to let any unit be on its own, without support from another unit. The men should be in white uniforms with red fez. The officers would be in a complete dark blue uniform with red fez.

Unit1. 7 bases of infantry, 1 sergeants base, 1 officer base.  Average quality (78 points).
Unit 2. 7 bases of infantry, 1 sergeants base, 1 officer base.  Poor quality (52 points).
Unit 3. 7 bases of infantry, 1 sergeants base, 1 officer base.  Poor quality (52 points).
Unit 4. 7 bases of infantry, 1 sergeants base, 1 officer base.  Poor quality (52 points).
Unit 5. 2 artillery guns, 1 officer base. Poor quality (23 points).
4 scouts (40 points)
Total 297 points.

Force 3 (B2203) “Hussars, mount up”.  British cavalry.

A force of 3 cavalry units. Three scouts are along too.  The cavalry are high quality with one unit being veteran.  This force will be able to move very quickly and charge down any dervishes in the open. It is not good at fighting in scenery.  Thus the scouts should be tasked with keeping the way clear of hostile scenery if possible.

Unit 1. 7 bases of cavalry, 1 sergeant base, 1 officer base. Average quality (82 points).
Unit 2. 7 bases of cavalry, 1 sergeant base, 1 officer base. Average quality (82 points).
Unit 3. 6 bases of cavalry, 1 sergeant base, 1 officer base. Veteran quality (108 points).
3 scouts (30 points)
Total 302 points
Contents= 1 pack of bases (3x4 ).  Packs 22,35(x7),36,66(x7),67,37(x2),69,31 = 21 packs    £65

Force 4 (B2204) “Bring your cutlass”. British Naval brigade.

A force of just two infantry units and an MG unit. Four scouts accompany this naval force.
The MGs will help suppress any dervish activity near the start line. The two units are large enough to absorb casualties and give the dervishes a lot of pain. Try to keep this force together, although the MGs can be left to hold apposition. The infantry are in dark blue all over with round “Sennett” hats made from straw.

Unit 1. 7 infantry bases, 1 sergeant base (petty officer in the navy), 1 officer base. Average quality ( 96 points).
Unit 2. 7 infantry bases, 1 sergeant base (petty officer in the navy), 1 officer base. Average quality ( 96 points).
Unit 3. 2 MG bases, 1 infantry base, 1 officer base. Average quality (64 points)

4 scouts (40 points).  Total 296 points.
Contents 1 pack of bases (3x3). Packs 62(x3),63(x3),64(x2),60,26,23,65(x2)= 13 packs.  £43

Force 5 (B2205) “ Attack now”. Fuzzy Wuzzy

A force of 4 capable fighting units. Each unit has some limited fire power, but it’s main job is to get into a fight and destroy the enemy. The veteran unit should be reserved for use with a fanatical or extra AP “wild card”.

Unit 1. 1 leader base, 2 rifle bases, 6 infantry (fighting) bases. Average quality (76 points).
Unit 2. 1 leader base, 2 rifle bases, 6 infantry (fighting) bases. Average quality (76 points).
Unit 3. 1 leader base, 2 rifle bases, 6 infantry (fighting) bases. Average quality (76 points).
Unit 4. 1 leader base, 5 infantry (fighting) bases. Veteran quality (75 points).

Total 303 points
Contents 1 pack of bases (3x3).  Packs 18(x2),16(x3),17(x4),55,19,53,54= 13 packs.
£42

Force 6 (B2206) “Kill for the Mahdi”/ Dervish infantry.

This is a good standard force of dervishes who can grind the Anglo-Egyptians down with sheer weight of numbers. The poor unit can take advantage of the wild arrival card. The veteran unit should be reserved for an ambush or for fight to the death action. Although the units have some rifles it is unwise to engage Anglo-Egyptians in a prolonged fire fight. The unit of all rifles can engage the enemy in a firefight, but probably best to do this from cover.

Unit 1. 1 leader base, 8 rifle bases. Average quality (64 points).
Unit 2. 1 leader base, 2 rifle bases, 6 infantry bases. Average quality (76 points).
Unit 3. 1 leader base, 2 rifle bases, 6 infantry bases. Poor quality (47 points).
Unit 4. 1 leader base, 8 infantry bases. Veteran quality (108 points).

Total 295 points.
Contents 1 pack of 3x3 bases. Packs 1(x2),3(x2),2(x3),4(x4),5,6,7,8= 15 packs
£47

Force 7 (B2207) “The Emir of Bashkaab is here”. Dervish cavalry.

This is a highly mobile force. It will have a problem deploying in some scenery types as cavalry cannot hide in them. Being cavalry/camelry they w ill be harder to make falter when charging. The two veteran units are comprised of cavalry whilst the two other units are camelry.

Unit 1. 1 leader base, 8 cavalry bases. Veteran quality (100 points).
Unit 2. 1 leader base, 8 cavalry bases. Veteran quality (100 points).
Unit 3. 1 leader base, 7 camelry bases. Average quality (65 points).
Unit 4. 1 leader base, 7 camelry bases. Poor quality (37 points).

Total 302 points.
Contents 1 pack of bases (3x4). Packs 10,11(x4),12(x4),58(x4),15,13(x4),14(x4),56(x3)= 25 packs.
