Peter Pig 15mm figures Peter Pig is one of the world's leading 15mm figure manufacturers. We make 6000 different figures and models. These are distilled into 1800 (15mm) packs. Every range has an associated set of rules. Also, there are related 15mm scenery ranges to accompany the figure ranges. In these days of wandering measures of sizes into 18mm, 12mm and other sizes close to 15mm; Peter Pig has remained true to the 15mm ideal. These other sizes are often an attempt by a manufacturer to create a market for just their peculiar size. It is also used by sculptors who cannot work well with the 15mm size restriction and so need extra size in order to create acceptable sculpts. Peter Pig will continue to do 15mm wargame figures. We will also constantly return to each range in order to carry out updates and additions. Thus we have 15mm ranges with longevity and future potential.

Vehicles
These vehicles are made of resin with metal turrets. The vehicles have integral bases. The base can be sanded off with a belt sander if wished. These vehicles are for SCW wargames and are not presented as scale model kits for collectors. The simple nature of these models is ideal for wargaming and helps keep the cost lower.
Each one has a separate turret in metal, with an MG in metal too.
They are built to 1/100th scale. This is not the correct scale for 15mm (too big), but looks good next to based wargame figures.
We recommend a black undercoat, then a really good dry brushing session.

Range 13 Spanish civil war
Welcome to the PP 15mm SCW range This is a range of 15mm SCW figures and equipment and we are constantly adding to it. This range can take advantage of the many other Peter Pig 15mm ranges, using their packs to supplement this range. 15mm SCW gives a chance to put on larger actions using a modest table.
This range is designed to cover the 1936-39 Spanish Civil War. Some WW2 items such as the Italians and French resistance can be used with this range. Our Bayonet and Ideology rules give a great game in this period (see rules page). As in most civil wars most troops will do for either side.
15mm SCW is constantly being expanded. so watch this page.
ConversionsTo give this range maximum flexibility there are head packs in range 6. This will allow you to convert any pack to the head type you need. Click here for range 6. SceneryPlayers can use any Spanish buildings, even if they are marketed as Napoleonic or similar. Rules. Spanish Civil war "Bayonet and Ideology"Click here
Some notes for guidance upon the SCW (15mm SCW)
The two sides in the SCW are known as the Nationalists and the Republicans. The Republicans were the legal government of Spain, with a capital in Madrid. The Republican cause incorporates anarchists, communists and separatists, along with loyal government forces. The Nationalists are more right wing than the Republicans and include monarchists, fascists and nationalists.
Militia These are irregular troops. They are at their best in the cities and in defences. The Republicans army included large numbers of militias including POUM, CNT, FAI and other anarchist and communist groupings. these troops would often be very brave indeed. They tended to lack good military training and heavy equipment. The Nationalist's main militia would be the Falangists. Militia might be uniformed or in more civilian dress.
Italian CTV Italy supported the Nationalists with tanks, regular troops and aircraft. The CTV were officially termed volunteers so that Mussolini could claim that they were merely highly motivated volunteers rather than Italian governmental interference. the Italian performance was variable.
Carlists The Carlists supported the Nationalist cause. Their chief aim was the restoration of the monarchy. The Carlist infantry were known as requettes. They were considered excellent troops and could be found in large numbers within the Nationalist army.
Nationalist peninsular army These troops are usually considered as good quality with good levels of equipment.
Moors Moors=Moroccan =Rif= regulares. These troops are from Morocco. They fought for the Nationalists cause under the title "Army of Africa". these units formed the backbone of the initial Nationalist invasion of Spain. The Moors were superb infantry and feared for their cruelty. Their higher officers would usually be Spanish.
Foreign Legion These troops fought exclusively for the Nationalists. They were tough, experienced and well equipped. They would probably be the best soldiers in the war.
International brigade These units were each formed from a different nation or group of nations. Thus there was an American brigade, British brigade and French brigade to name a few. The German Thelman brigade was particularly brave and tough. Their equipment was usually good as was their fighting record. They tended to be used in very bloody situations and hence suffered a lot in battle. International brigade troops tended to be uniformed to the extent that each brigade would have preferred headgear.
Republican peninsular army These are the government army. Their uniforms often got as scruffy as the militias but were none the less regular soldiers, even if conscripted.
Assault guards These were the para-military police of the cities. They tended to be on the Republican side but could often be found on the nationalist side if their town initially went with the nationalist. They could be excellent troops or a mistrusted force in the heart of Republican areas. Their uniform evolved fro traditional jacket and trousers to one piece overalls in order to identify more with the militias they were fighting alongside.
Cavalry There were only a few cavalry actions (charges) in the civil war but they did happen. cavalry took part in a lot of reconnaissance actions.
Civil Guard These are the traditional and hated police force. They would often be serving in country towns. They started out with a very distinctive bull fighter hat. They were usually allied with Nationalist forces.
Guns Anti tank guns use German range 8 pack 35. Field guns use WW1 Peter Pig guns, especially French 75mm.
Tanks The Republicans had access to a lot of T26 tanks. SEE Peter Pig WW2 RUSSIAN range 8 The Nationalists did capture some of these too. Italian CV33 tankette and flamethrower. SEE Peter Pig Italian range 8. French FT17 light tanks. SEE Peter Pig French range 8.
Hats
Isabelino. Used by almost all troops in the war. Foreign legion never wore helmets. Not used by Moorish troops. Beret. Carlists had a special large red beret. Normal beret worn by many Republican troops including international brigade. Adrian Helmet. Based on the French pattern. popular with international brigades. Spanish helmet. Used by both sides including international brigades. Pasamontana. Woolly biscuit tin type hat with a small peak. popular with republican and international brigade troops. Peaked cap. popular with assault guards and Republican officers.
Rifles The mauser rifle was widely used, it being the pre-war Spanish rifle. Versions of the Russian Moisin Nagant rifle (with and without bayonet) were widely used by Republican units.
Flags Many infantry formations carried flags. This was to allow friendly planes and artillery to see which side they were on. It was common for units of infantry to be shot at by their own aircraft and artillery.
