Peter Pig 15mm figures Peter Pig is one of the world's leading 15mm figure manufacturers. We make 6000 different figures and models. These are distilled into 1800 (15mm) packs. Every range has an associated set of rules. Also, there are related 15mm scenery ranges to accompany the figure ranges. In these days of wandering measures of sizes into 18mm, 12mm and other sizes close to 15mm; Peter Pig has remained true to the 15mm ideal. These other sizes are often an attempt by a manufacturer to create a market for just their peculiar size. It is also used by sculptors who cannot work well with the 15mm size restriction and so need extra size in order to create acceptable sculpts. Peter Pig will continue to do 15mm wargame figures. We will also constantly return to each range in order to carry out updates and additions. Thus we have 15mm ranges with longevity and future potential.
Range 24 Samurai
An exceptional range to cover the Sengoku Japanese wars. In this period the samurai are no longer wearing the box type armour of earlier periods. Most troops are wearing the sashimono on their backs. This identifies their clan. The Peter Pig figures have the sashimono cast on, which has not been achieved by any other company so far. This makes the sashimono more robust and avoids the cost of buying extra packs of sashimonos.
There are 2 or 3 poses per pack. This gives a range of 140 original poses. More than any other 15mm company so far! the range also has associated buildings, rules and scenery. There are no ninjas as they were not deployed on the battlefield. Recommended viewing are the films Ran and Kagemusha.
Samurai would fight in units in addition to being unit leaders at times. Samurai cavalry are on small poor horses, thus they charge at the trot. The main fighting troops retained by the clans are ashigaru. They are full time soldiers. At this time the arquebus is a major battlefield weapon. The bow is fast disappearing.
Battles might often be stand offs or un-bloody.
Because Japan was militarily isolated, their battlefield methods were very individual and unlike European warfare.
