Postage and how we do it
A short explanation of the current policy from Peter Pig
Here is a no nonsense explanation.
As from October 2020 we are changing the way that your postage is calculated.
Why are we doing this?
Mainly, because some orders containing just normal figure packs were costing customers more than they should. This gave us extra work in refunding postage etc.
Of course, natural scepticism will get you wondering if this is some trick dressed up as a treat. No it is not. Such tricks get found out and reduce the company status in the eyes of customers. By dealing fairly, we think business will increase in the long run.
What is changing?
Previously the postage was calculated as a percentage of the order value.
Now the postage will be calculated directly based upon the weight of the order.
Overall, this will reduce the postage cost to you.
Unlike many other businesses, Peter Pig lets you see the postage costs as you put your order together. Postage is not a “sudden surprise” after you have committed to the order.
To see the shipping charge click on “shipping options” when in the shopping cart.
Some notes for you to consider
1. Postage costs will now be in “weight bands”. This means that an extra pack might put you into a more expensive band. The jump is always small though.
2. Busy wargamers often want to “add an extra item”. This is quite understandable as projects can grow. The way to deal with this is to just make a new order.
Once placed, your order goes straight to the workshop and is made up. It does not lie fallow awaiting changes. This is great if you are eager to get your order. But not so good if you want to make changes at leisure.
3. If you want to see how fair this system might be. Do a “pretend order” for ten packs of figures (say 80 figures) from various makers and see how the costs stack up. We have done this and found our costs to be at the lower end.
REMINDERS!
Do be careful to choose the correct postage tariff. Several customers have mis-understood the following.
Don’t choose “collect at show” if you are not attending that show.
Do not choose “Free shipping pdf” unless you are purchasing a pdf product only.
Do not choose “UK postage” unless you are receiving the goods in the UK.
Whilst we try to keep delivery costs low we cannot allow customers to bypass the cost by choosing an inappropriate option.
We do physically handle each order. There is no automated system which allows you to choose the wrong method of delivery.
So please do not choose an “ I will collect” or similar in an attempt to save money when there is no intention of using that delivery method.
PDF
Five people a month (on average) choose the pdf option for figures and physical goods. Figures cannot be sent pdf nor can kits etc.
Every order is handled by a human. We do waste a lot of time trying to sort out customers who think they have “beaten the robots” by sneaking in their order as PDF.
Please do not do this, as it may/will delay your order due to our having to sort it out.
Sadly physical orders claimed as “pdf” will now be handled by our automated “return” system. This means that orders of this nature will be refunded by a special automated system which does this work.
We accept that customers often choose pdf for physical orders through no fault of their own. It is just an accident as they scan down the list of postage types.
Payment
We are unable to accept payment by telephone or by mail. Online or in person shopping only.

Show Orders
How ? Order via the shopping cart and we will package it up and bring it along.
(Email orders no longer accepted as they get overlooked in the large amounts of mail and we do not sweep for messages once we get busy with show preparation)
If you have time during the day, check over your order and let us know of any errors before we all go home.
When ? At least a week before the show date if your order is to be guaranteed to be ready. Resin items especially take time to prepare.
Discount ? You get a discount on the order (no minimum size) if you use the appropriate code. This code is a "thank you" for making our life easier, by your picking up the order at a show. IT CAN ONLY BE USED IF YOU ARE PICKING THE ORDER UP. It is not a special way of getting discount on your orders. See Shows page.
Promo code for orders to collect is available until each Monday noon (PP time) before the convention.
After this time we are crating stock for transport and shopping cart remains unsupervised (your order will be too late).
Placing the order online after Monday noon is technically possible but will not be seen by the humans who download and package !
Members of any host club can assume a 20% discount on pre orders for their own convention. Please inform us of this after placing your order and we can adjust the discount already deducted automatically.
Remember to use the individual promotion code to get theshow discount and choose the "Do not mail" option to avoid shipping charges.
Post and Packaging - please choose carefully
As you shop, the software will update the applicable postage. You can check the shopping cart as often as you like, in order to see the postage being applied.

"Ltd" status
You may see Ltd after the company name of many UK companies. The US equivalent is LLC. Luckily for you, Peter Pig is not a limited company.
You need to be aware of the following in these times of potential recession and business failures.
Limited companies exist so that the owners can declare the business bankrupt if things get tough, but take no responsibility themselves.
This means they can close the business down and take your money and you have no “come-back” as you would be a long way down the list of creditors.
This is why people make their company limited ; to "limit" any liabilities to the company and not themselves.
Peter Pig is not a limited company therefore you are much safer in your transactions as we take personal liability.
